Madame Dasima portrayed a woman who, just like Cleopatra or Juliet, determined a borderless love existed despite any rules and customs inherited through generations. Inspired by a popular legend of Batavia “Nyai Dasima”, the story brought a new perspective on how love ran through impossible hardships.
